Little Curacao | My Bikini Musthaves

Hi loves,

Happy Wednesday! I want to take you back a couple of weeks when I made a day-trip to my new favorite island. An island with water so blue and sand so white that it hurt my eyes! I’m talking about Little Curacao.

Little Curacao, like the name applies, is a small island located 10 kilometers southeast of Curacao. This island, as the Dutch call it “Klein Curacao”, is about 3 square kilometers so yes, it’s very small and you can literally walk from one side of the island to the other within 30 minutes.

That’s also the reason why there’s a lighthouse on the island. It’s funny to say and you probably won’t believe it when you’ve seen the island, but there’s one person in the whole world who was born on Little Curacao. It was back in 1977 when there still were people living on the island and he’s actually a professional baseball player now.

I even did a quick photoshoot while we were there lol! On the eastern part of the island you’ll find an abandoned ship wreck that was left there in the 80’s. The name of the ship was Maria Bianca Guidesman and was actually on Curacao for repair work. However, the owner had not enough money for this and decided to go to Venezuela where it was much cheaper. Just off the coast of Little Curacao the engine broke down and the ship was adrift. There was no way they could detach the ship from the rocky coast so they just left it there ever since.Little Curacao | My Bikini MusthavesLittle Curacao | My Bikini MusthavesLittle Curacao is about one-hour boat ride away from the southern part of Curacao. There are a couple of boat companies that offer return trips  on a daily basis and also provide snorkeling and diving gear. Because when you’re on Little Curacao you have to go snorkeling or diving, the underwater world is amazing! My friend even saw a turtle on the day we were there, so it’s definitely worth it.

Make sure to bring your sunscreen and hat with you, and sunglasses are a must! The sun is so strong over there and it would be a shame if you were to suffer a sunstroke during the day. Also, bring your own food and drinks with you because there’s no beach club or eatery on the island. I can honestly say this is the most beautiful beach I’ve ever been to. Curacao even has amazing beaches, but Little Curacao definitely tops the list!

Have you ever been to Little Curacao? If you’re staying at Curacao it’s a must-visit and it’s so easy to go just for a day!
