Third trimester | My Bikini MusthavesThe end is near. The end of my pregnancy, that is. I can tell you, I’m so excited! And tired. Very. Tired. Tomorrow we will meet our little baby boy and I can’t wait to hold and cuddle him. But first, let’s recap the last weeks of my pregnancy: my third trimester.

After we got back from our baby moon we focused on finishing the nursery. We don’t have a specific theme for the room but decided to go for the color green as main color with various accessories. Daddy did all the hard work and I decorated the room and bought even more clothes for the baby lol.

Third trimester | My Bikini MusthavesBaby shower
In the 32nd week of my pregnancy my sweet friends organised a baby shower for me! Ahhh so sweet! I’m really thankful for all the presents I received that day. One of the games during the baby shower was that everyone had to write down the baby name they think we will choose for JJ (because JJ is his nickname, in case you didn’t know) and the date they think he will be born. I saved all these cards and soon we will found out if someone guessed the name correctly ;)

One of the things that (expectant) mothers always find very interesting to know is how much weight you’ve gained during your pregnancy. So I thought why not share it with you because I don’t think this is something you should be ashamed of. I gained 15 kilos in total at the end of my third trimester. That’s quite reasonable but I have to say that I was actually a bit surprised based on all the extra calories I ate in the last weeks. Chocolate, cakes, fries, candy you name it, I ate it! So I wouldn’t be surprised if the scale indicated 20 kilos instead of 15!Third trimester | My Bikini MusthavesThird trimester | My Bikini MusthavesThird trimester | My Bikini MusthavesAll the predicted names and birthdates for baby JJ! Baby name
About the name, I know in the US and some other countries it’s very common to share the baby name before the birth with your friends and family. Here in Holland it’s not really usual. You keep the name a secret from everyone until the baby is born.

Unlike other expectant parents we didn’t have a favourite baby name right from the beginning (or even before I was pregnant). I think we started thinking about baby names when I was around 5 months pregnant. My boyfriend had already a long list of names and I had only two or three. Boy names are so much harder than girl names in my opinion! During our baby moon in Curacao we’ve shortened the list to three names that we both like and agreed to let these names sink in for a couple of weeks.

In the weeks following we didn’t really came up with other names that we liked so we stuck to those three. But I noticed that I switched between these names every other week. Although I like all three names, there wasn’t a clear winner. So we decided to wait until the baby is here, see what he looks like and how he is and then decide which of the three names suits him best. I kind of like this idea to be honest.Third trimester | My Bikini Musthaves34 weeks pregnantThird trimester | My Bikini Musthaves39 weeks pregnant

C-section
Now, about my upcoming delivery. My due date is November 21st but as some of you might know I have a planned C-section for tomorrow (yes, tomorrow!!) so the baby will be here 6 days earlier. The reason for this C-section is that baby JJ decided to stay in breech position throughout the whole pregnancy. Already a stubborn little guy lol!

Ever since our first ultrasound he was lying with his head up and his feet next to his face. In the 35th week of my pregnancy we went to the hospital and the gynaecologist actually tried to turn him because I wanted to give a natural birth, but with no success. For me it was a big disappointment at first, but now I’ve accepted the fact that this is his most comfortable position apparently and he likes it this way. So C-section it is!

Feeling blessed
The other day I was looking back at the last 9 months and overall I can say I had a very easy pregnancy. People often ask me which trimester I’ve experienced as the toughest and I think for me it was the first one. Of course the third trimester was sometimes hard too because of the weight gain and being tired all the time. But the first couple of months were really killing me in terms of the mood swings, crying spells and morning sickness. I wasn’t feeling myself at all.

In the end I can say I’ve really enjoyed my pregnancy and tried to make the best out of it. Now I can focus on my most important role in life: motherhood. Starting tomorrow! Wow, I still can’t believe it even writing it down! Although I will be the same person, today I will close some sort of chapter of my life and tomorrow will start a new one. Once you’re a mom you will always be a mom.

Since baby JJ will arrive tomorrow I want to give my full attention to him and my new family situation so that means that I will post less frequently in the next coming weeks on the blog. But I will be back, don’t worry! Because I can’t wait to share his first pictures and of course, continue my bikini journey with you.

Thank you all so much for your loyal support and sweet messages so far. Really appreciated! It made me feel stronger and I’m ready.

Love, Gala
